Atlanta Falcons vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs' opening drive, unlike their opponents, was a slow burn. Starting from their own 11-yard line, they marched 69 yards in 18 plays, poised to respond to Atlanta’s touchdown with one of their own. However, Patrick Mahomes' ill-advised pass to Noah Gray in the end zone was intercepted by Justin Simmons, keeping the Falcons in the lead.

Atlanta’s next drive was short, lasting just six plays, allowing the Chiefs’ offense to return to the field. They embarked on another methodical drive, covering 66 yards in 14 plays, culminating in a game-tying touchdown pass from Mahomes to Rashee Rice.

On the ensuing Falcons drive, a roughing-the-passer penalty and a 50-yard reception by Kyle Pitts set up 1st-and-goal from the one-yard line, where Bijan Robinson punched it in to restore Atlanta’s seven-point advantage.

The Chiefs answered with a field goal before both teams exchanged punts, leaving under a minute on the clock. The Falcons, playing aggressively, made a costly mistake when Kirk Cousins' deep pass was intercepted by Chamarri Conner. With help from Jaylen Watson, the Chiefs got a short field, but they only managed a 44-yard field goal, entering halftime down 14-13.

Kansas City started the second half with another long, 12-play, 80-yard drive but stalled at Atlanta’s three-yard line, settling for a 21-yard field goal from Harrison Butker to take their first lead of the game.

Trailing for the first time, the Falcons hoped for a quick response but gained just seven yards on a five-play drive before punting back to the Chiefs. Mahomes and the offense drained the clock with another deliberate drive, covering 67 yards in 11 plays, capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster to extend their lead to eight.

The Falcons opened the fourth quarter with a field goal, but both offenses then stalled as the defenses took over. Kansas City's first drive of the final quarter lasted just five plays before they punted, giving Atlanta a chance to take the lead.

Starting from their own 11-yard line, the Falcons drove 83 yards in 17 plays, but they were stopped on downs at the Chiefs' six-yard line after a controversial no-call from the officials. Atlanta’s defense forced a quick three-and-out, setting up Cousins with an opportunity for a game-winning drive.

The Falcons reached Kansas City’s 13-yard line and faced 4th-and-inches. They gave the ball to Robinson, but he lost three yards, turning it over on downs once again. The Chiefs then ran out the clock, with Mahomes kneeling three times to seal the win and improve Kansas City’s record to 3-0.
