DeVonta Smith injury!

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith was ruled out of their Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints after being evaluated for a concussion. The injury occurred early in the fourth quarter when Smith took a hit from Saints rookie defensive tackle Khristian Boyd after catching a short pass. Despite his forward progress seemingly being stopped, the hit left Smith shaken.

Boyd's hit sparked some controversy, though it was his teammate Payton Turner who drew more criticism. Turner appeared to dive at Smith, who was on the ground and without his helmet, and some viewers believe Turner may have spat near the receiver, which added to the outrage.

The Eagles quickly announced that Smith would not return for the remainder of the game. With Smith out due to a concussion and fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown sidelined by a hamstring injury, Philadelphia was missing its top two receivers for the rest of the contest.

DeVonta Smith Injury Update: Smith was injured in the fourth quarter after a helmet-displacing hit and was promptly evaluated for a concussion. The Eagles ruled him out of the game shortly after. His availability for upcoming games remains uncertain.
